I'm not near my Mint machine to install and test that right now, but in the meantime I'd suggest you explore the Applets setting module and looks for the BAMS applet or the Desklet setting module and the Battery Level Indicator Desklet. Would you advise uninstalling it - and re-installing the other monitor. but there is no imagery to give me any clue as to the actual state of battery power. Settings only give alert timings as the battery gets lower. It only gives me 'Settings', 'About' and 'Quit'. It is now visible next to the Bluetooth button and the Wifi button at bottom right. I can confirm that I installed 'Battery Monitor' from the Accessories section (in the Start window) into the panel at the bottom of the screen. There was a preinstalled applet battery monitor which was resident in the applets window but its 'Configuration' button was greyed out and neither was it visible anywhere (other than on the Applets list) nor did it work - so I uninstalled it just in case it might affect Maateen's 'Battery Monitor'. The program I have installed is called 'Battery Monitor' by Maksudur Rahman Maateen.

Look for the small + button at the bottom left of the applets settings module to add an applet to a panel. Have you downloaded an alternative via the Applets settings module? If so can you confirm the name of what you have installed? And can you confirm you have added the installed applet to the panel? This is the final step after installation. Can you be a bit more specific as to what you have installed? Cinnamon comes with the stock power applet preinstalled and active on the panel.
